Thresholds

I once saw

The setting sun

Bisect the world

With only a strip

Of burning colour.

I drove on,

Comforted

By certainty.

Where I was going

There would be

Many such lines

To cross.

And the line I took

Cut-across many others.

But I knew

For certain

What awaited me

At journey’s end.
