Lockdown

Locked in, ‘keep out’, our liberty in drought.

Life in restriction, spawn of some covert affliction.

Your futures unclear, the ‘new normal’ is here…

Hurry up! Get indoors! Don’t wait or pause.

Stay away from the people, your touch now deceitful.

And please be advised to remain sanitised.

Limit the movement for some home entombment.

You confine all your friends to the end of a lens.

The world we await to re-open its gates.

And what happens next? Do we have a context?

Will Socially distant becomes the consistent?

Can we have and behold and move uncontrolled?

And when we go back, will we mark on blue plaque,

the changes we’ve made, and walk unafraid?

Or will we regress, and consume to excess.

Whatever the lessons, this is our confession.

To ask for forgiveness, with nature our witness.

Our world a better place, with no mask on face.
