things people say
#04 - 'a bit of advice’
You’re at the edge of the pillow, acting as the proverbial prune - like a butter dish
in a room full of people.
You daydream about what its like when the moods on and the foots’ there. Wait.
You don’t daydream because you can’t be awaken if you’re already awoke. It’s like a
noisy bunch of novices. Novices that too, become old, and gone are the days of the
Tinkerbell titties.
Gone are the days of pixie hats instead of dishtowels.
In your future you will find - apart from the hoards of bucket hats and keeping it
casual in the dark - the crunch of a crouton. An intensity to the extension of the
cookie biscuit. And then you’ll realise that, actually, your hot plate and loyalty card
are exactly what you thought they’d be - a shrinked pink.
Rowing instead of canoeing. Drinking according to the wind. A faux chateau.
You have become that psychedelic cruiser who floats away on lemon sorbet, belly
rub full. You’ve queued for chicken a la king whilst in a mental seduction of cavaliers
and caviar.
Lets get those chips out of your chest hair. In any case, do you know who you are, if
you don’t know where you are?
“Things People Say” is a series of short stories inspired by things people say to me in conversation.
